Abstract:The map was prepared originally for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) in the framework of Phase II of the UNEP/FAO Desertification Assessment and Mapping Project. Then as the map was in Miller Oblated Stereographic Projection, a programme developed by FAO-GIS was used to convert the map into Geographic Projection, and some more cities were added from the 1:3000000 ArcWorld data set.
